Check-ups & hygiene
Regular check-ups and professional cleaning are the simplest way to keep your teeth and gums healthy — and to catch small problems before they become big ones.
What it is
A check-up is a thorough examination of your teeth, gums and mouth. Where needed, we take digital X-rays, which use a low dose of radiation and let us see between teeth and below fillings.
A hygiene visit removes plaque and tartar (scaling) that brushing cannot reach, then polishes the teeth. We also show you what to focus on at home.
How it works
Conversation
We ask about your health, any pain or concerns, and what you would like to change.
Examination
We check every tooth, your gums, bite and soft tissues, with X-rays if needed.
Cleaning
Scaling and polishing remove tartar and stains for a fresh, clean feel.
Your plan
We explain what we found and agree any next steps, with costs, before anything starts.
Questions patients ask
Does scaling damage the enamel?
No. Professional scaling removes hardened deposits, not enamel. Teeth may feel slightly sensitive for a day or two.
Do I need X-rays every time?
No. We take X-rays only when they help with a diagnosis, based on your history and examination.
Can I bring my children?
Yes. Early, friendly visits help children feel at ease with the dentist and keep their teeth healthy.
Ready to talk it through?
Book a consultation — we will examine, explain your options and costs, and agree a plan with you before anything starts.
